Each year, J.D. Power evaluates owners’ emotional attachment to their vehicles in the APEAL StudySM. In the 2020 J.D. Power APEAL StudySM, four Nissan models earned the top spot in their respective segments, making Nissan the most-awarded mass-market brand in the study.
The 2020 Sentra topped the compact car segment, the Versa scored highest in the small car segment, the Maxima outperformed competitors in the large car segment, and the Armada earned the top score in the large SUV segment. Overall, Nissan tied for sixth place this year, which is an impressive increase from 14th place in 2019.
The top-performing Nissan model in the study was the Sentra, which had a score that was 42 points above the segment average. Each of the other Nissan models also scored well above their respective segment averages This was also the third year in a row that the Maxima won in its segment in the study.
Dave Sargent, vice president of automotive quality at J.D. Power, said, “Eight of Nissan’s 10 ranked models scored better than their segment average, with four achieving Best in Segment. The automaker is performing very well in terms of delighting their customers when it comes to owning and driving Nissan vehicles.”
